Welsh singer-songwriter Martyn Joseph will be kicking-off his Because We Can tour with long time songwriting partner, poet and BBC Radio presenter, Stewart Henderson. We have heard that Martyn is like the Welsh version of Bruce Springsteen.
This will be the first time they’ve both toured together in this part of Canada and the shows will offer a variety of poetry and music.
Concert-goers will not only enjoy a night of great music, but they’ll also have the opportunity to hear how, through the work of World Vision Canada (http://childview.worldvision.ca) they can personally sponsor/support and encourage a child who is living in poverty.
Proceeds from tickets sales will also benefit local charities.
Advance Tickets available at www.ticketwindow.ca
Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.

Jung People is an Instrumental Rock Duo based out of Calgary, Canada. Forming in late 2010 after founding members Octobuss (Guitar/FX/ETC) and Giordano W. They have been classified under Progressive/Indie/Post-rock with other influences branching towards Punk, Metal and Folk among others.
This Event is a Release Party for an “EP”, that will fund a charitable album that will be donated to a local non-kill animal shelter in the city. The work and music from both the EP and the soon to be released album are dedicated to and about domestic animals and the abuses many of them suffer.

Heather Blush and The Uppercuts are a trio of rogue troubadours who knock the socks off every new audience they meet. Based in Calgary, Alberta, their sound can be described as somewhere between the “Adult Alternative” styles of Sarah Slean and Sarah Harmer, and old “Ella/Louis-style” vocal jazz/blues. Heather’s voice is often compared to Norah Jones and Maria Muldaur. With energetic, audience-engaging shows, she is quickly becoming known for songwriting that covers all bases between witty sarcasm and gutwrenching honesty. With “Captain” Steve Hazlett on drums and recently a rotating cast of stellar upright bass players, this trio packs a punch and leaves a lasting impression.
The ensemble’s first album was released in June 2008. Vice is a collection of twelve songs focusing in on various “vices”, including the usual suspects (alcohol, bad relationship choices) and some surprises (music and travel as vices). Only a year after its release, Versa was released as a follow-up album. It is of course the antithesis to Vice, and explores the lighter side of life. Both albums have been well-received across Canada on CBC radio, as well as university and independent stations, landing on many charts.
2010 was a great year, with the trio performing at the Vancouver Winter Olympics, and Heather’s song “I Don’t Believe Me Anymore” being chosen as a finalist in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest.

The second concert in a series of 6 being held at The Lantern, features Calum Graham.
“Calum Graham is poised to be setting the bar for guitar grooviness for many years to come. His tunes are energetic, infectious, and show a compositional maturity well beyond what I would normally expect to hear from such a young player. What can I say, I’m a fan!” Don Ross, Internationally recognized as one of today’s true innovators of guitar composition and technique Guitar Virtuoso Calum Graham has been blasting his way through the Alberta music scene in the short 5 years he’s been playing.
From the small town of High River, Alberta he is truly a unique talent that is destined for the ‘World Stage’. This 19 year-old fretwork phenom has a dynamic and upbeat style, and is at the forefront of a new generation in music.
At this time, Calum is in the midst of recording his next studio album entitled “Indivisibility” down in Los Angeles with renowned Musician and Producer CJ Vanston (Joe Cocker, N’Sync, Tina Turner). This album will not only feature Calum’s unique style on the guitar, but also his engaging voice, and strong songwriting skills. What results, is a dynamic sound that is unmistakably Calum Graham.

The third concert in a series of 6 being held at The Lantern, featuring Dave Gunning.
“Dave Gunning is the next big thing in the True North of Song, an artist as compelling, as assured and attentive to every nuance of the writing process as Lightfoot, Coburn and Stan Rogers before him.” – Greg Quill, The Toronto Star
There are stories that wash over you like a tide, and then there are stories that grab you by the heart. Dave Gunning has made a point of finding the latter and wrapping them up in song since he broke upon the East Coast music scene in Canada back in 1997. The Pictou County, Nova Scotia born and bred singer-songwriter and working class hero has built up from humble beginnings to a point where his name is regularly included in conversation with artists such as David Francey, James Keelaghan, Ron Hynes, Stan Rogers, Bruce Cockburn and Gordon Lightfoot. Writing from a sonic menu that includes flavors of Irish, Scottish, French Acadian, folk and country musical styles, Dave Gunning transcends genre with songs that fill your senses and touch your soul.

A quiet, reflective service and a time of prayer to remember that our Lord Jesus Christ died for each and every one of us.
We’re asking that it be an Adult-Only Service . . . I know that sounds ‘unfriendly’ but the service is usually quiet and meditative in nature.
